Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People hosted the launch of Martin Smith’s new book on Saturday 12th May.

Signs of my Times’

This is the story of LSDBP over the last sixty years, the communities who make it and the social and cultural changes the society has gone through.

In 1957, Martin started work as an “Assistant Welfare Officer in the Deaf and Dumb Department of the Leeds Incorporated Institution for the Blind and the Deaf and the Dumb” at 135 Albion Street. His book details the changes in societal attitudes, and the development of LSDBP over the next 60 years.

It was such a lovely event for all attending! Congratulations, Martin!
